How to use name wheel
- Type an option and press Enter, or click Add. Click an option that is already there to edit the words.
- Click the wheel, or click Spin. The pointer at the top marks the winner.
- Spin again, or remove the winner and spin so that choice cannot come up twice.
What it is for
A name picker for classrooms, raffles, and team draws: paste a roster, spin, and the wheel lands on one person at random with every entry getting an equal slice. Use "remove winner" to draw a second name without replacement, or leave winners in for with-replacement practice drills. For general multi-option decisions (dinner, chores, projects) use the Wheel Spinner instead - this page is tuned for names, with roster paste and winner display.
How it works
The spin is chosen on your device with the Web Crypto API when available (uniform 1/N per name), with nothing sent to boosted.cafe. The winner banner announces the drawn name for screen readers, and your roster persists in this browser only. It is a fair draw aid, not a certified lottery: re-spins are possible, so don't use screenshots as proof to third parties.
Worked example
Paste 30 names, spin once: each has a 1⁄30 ≈ 3.3% chance. Remove the winner and spin again for a runner-up (now 1⁄29 each). For a weighted draw - e.g. two entries for finalists - paste those names twice; each duplicate slice adds another 1/N share.
