How to use the final grade calculator

  1. Enter your current course average as a percent.
  2. Enter the final grade you want.
  3. Enter how much of the course the final is worth, and read the score you need.

The math

Target = current × (1 − weight) + needed × weight, so needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight. Your current average comes from the grade calculator.

When the number looks impossible

If the needed score tops 100, the target is out of reach on the final alone - decide whether extra credit, a dropped low score, or a revised goal closes the gap. Teachers often round borderline results, so a needed 89.4 against an 89.1 average is worth asking about. Run the numbers early: learning you need a 76 in week three beats discovering you need a 140 the night before.
