How to use Base Converter

  1. Type a number into the box for the base it is written in.
  2. Read the same value instantly in binary, octal, decimal, and hex.
  3. Click any result to copy it.

What it is for

Computers count in binary, humans in decimal, and programmers constantly need both plus octal and hex. A base converter translates one representation into the others without a mistake-prone manual calculation.

How it works

The input is parsed with JavaScript's number parser for the chosen base and re-printed in the others using big-integer-safe string conversion. Results update as you type and never leave your device. For text encoded as binary use the Binary Converter; for text encoded as hex use the Hex Converter.

Worked example

Enter FF in hex: binary 11111111, octal 377, decimal 255 - the maximum one-byte value (2⁸−1). Enter 1010 in binary: decimal 10, hex A. Prefixes 0b, 0o, and 0x are accepted.
