How to use Factor Calculator

  1. Type any whole number up to 15 digits.
  2. Read the complete factor list and how many there are.
  3. See the prime factorization and the pairs that multiply to your number.

What it is for

Factoring is the first step in simplifying fractions, finding common denominators, and solving many classroom problems. This tool lists every divisor so nothing gets missed.

How it works

Divisors are found by checking every candidate up to the square root and collecting both members of each pair, then sorted and deduplicated. The prime factorization comes from repeated division.

Factors versus multiples

Factors divide a number evenly; multiples are what you get when you multiply it. The two meet at the LCM and GCF: the GCF is built from shared prime factors, while the LCM covers every prime factor at its highest power. That is why listing divisors first makes classroom problems mechanical - once the factor pairs are on the table, common denominators, simplification, and divisibility tests reduce to reading the list.
