How to use the qr code generator

  1. Type any link or text - it renders as you type.
  2. Pick a pixel width and an error-correction level.
  3. Download the PNG for print or screens.

What it is for

Printed menus, table tents, event posters, and packaging all need scannable codes without watermarks or expiring links. Generating the PNG locally means the code belongs to you outright and never phones home.

How it works

The open-source qrcode-generator library (MIT license, vendored into this page) encodes your text into the QR matrix with the chosen error-correction level, then the code is drawn module by module on a canvas at your pixel width. The download button exports that canvas as a PNG - entirely in your browser.

Worked example

Paste https://example.com/menu (22 characters), pick 1024 px and error correction M: the encoder selects a low QR version with comfortable margins, and the PNG prints sharply at 3.5 inches (1024 รท 300 dpi). A 200-character Wi-Fi string at level H produces a denser matrix - still scannable, but print it at least 1.5 inches wide and test with two phone cameras before laminating.

Limitations

Higher error correction survives smudges but holds less data; very long payloads (over ~2,000 characters) become too dense for cheap cameras. Colors and logos overlaid after download can break scanning - keep high contrast and a quiet zone around the code. This tool makes static codes only; it cannot track scans or redirect later. For editable short links use a redirect service first, then encode its URL here.
